How can I change the map design?

Modified on Mon, 30 Sep at 11:16 AM

The Design tab is split into two sections. First, under "MAP STYLE", you can choose between our map style presets that features different fonts, color schemes and features.

Secondly, you have the options to personalize the "ADVANCED STYLE SETTINGS". Activating the "ULTRA HIGH-RES MAPS" feature leads to the amount of details of a zoom step higher than the one currently set being displayed.

Under "LANGUAGE" you can choose between showing label names of countries/cities/towns, etc., being displayed in the local language or choose between English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Chinese. If a given label name is not translated to the chosen language, it will be displayed in the local language instead.

Under "AREAS & LINES", you can choose which map features should be displayed. For example, deselecting "Roads" and "Road Casings" will lead to roads no longer being displayed on your map.

Under "LABELS", you can choose which labels you want to have displayed on your map. For example, deselecting "Cities" and "Water Labels" will lead to the names of large Cities, such as London, New York, Paris, or Vienna, and the names of bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, or seas, no longer being displayed. Use these features to only show the elements which you want to display or leave unchanged to keep all the details.

For both "LABELS" and "AREAS & LINES", some features will be greyed out for deselection if they are not currently in your selected map area for your chosen zoom step.

Don’t worry about adding too many features: The SVG and PSD files contain layers. Open them up in Photoshop or Illustrator and you can still remove whatever features you’ve changed your mind about.
